The Cyprus Kitchen is on the left as you approach Gönyeli from the signposted turning off  the main Nicosia to Güzelyurt road, some 5 km from the city centre. Although a modern building, it has been decorated with such a rich collection of traditional furniture, tools,  embroideries and kitchenware that it looks like a working museum. 

Equal attention is paid to the repertoire of Cypriot dishes; you will need to order the pot  roasts, which are cooked outside in a traditional clay-sealed oven, in advance. 

Open for lunch and dinner and favourite with visiting delegations and local politicians. Dinner for two with wine costs about UK£10.

Amusing Mr Laugh, as his name tells, is famous for his high laughs. This cosy and very friendly  restaurant specializes on chicken dishes; you can sample from your favourite chicken kievs to  chicken doner, chicken dolmas, to many other chicken dishes, even chicken desserts!

Cypriot food in an authentic environment. Excellent steaks, and chicken dishes are Kushabbi's  specialties. You can also watch a belly-dancer performing at the restaurant.

Pasta Villa is a self-service restaurant situated on Mehmet Akif Avenue, opposite the Forestry  Department Nursery garden in Nicosia, only a short distance from the British High Commission  building. 

The restaurant has an indoor seating capacity for about 25 people, with bright green wire chairs around 6 yellow tables, and a similar number on the wide pavement terrace in front,  shaded with green and yellow umbrellas. This is a perfect place for pasta and Italian food lovers.  The deserts and the cappuccino is not to be missed. Pasta Villa is open everyday from 09.00- 23.00 hours.

This is one of the best restaurants in the centre of Nicosia. Choose your composite meal  from any dozen freshly cooked trays. A filling lunch for two costs for under UK£5.

This is an enormous and boisterous restaurant designed for groups and family parties, with cabaret and belly-dancing turns. It is off the Kyrenia road and is open from 8pm. A  reasonably indulgent night will set you back about UK£15 for two.
 
Yakamoz

Yakamoz is an authentic Cypriot restaurant, popular by the locals. It serves a varied meze followed  by grilled fish for UK£5 per person.
 
Guneydogu Kebab House

This is a small but popular lunchtime kebab house that backs onto the Green Line with tables  overlooking the bazaar street-life. From the Bedesten, walk downhill along the main shopping  thoroughfare and take the fifth turning on the left. A mixed plate of kebabs with salad for two  costs UK £7.
 
Zir Lokanta

The Zir Lokanta is a small, local restaurant that obstinately resists obstinately commercial  possibilities and only opens in the quiet of the evening. It serves mainly Cypriot and Turkish  dishes.

Selection of sandwiches, home made soup, quiches and cakes are made freshly everyday  at this friendly cafe. It also provides traditional breakfast every Saturday morning. Open 7am  until 7pm, closed on Sundays.

This is a cosy little pub, bustling with young businesspeople at rush hour time around 6-7pm.  It has live jazz music on certain nights of the week. 
 
Cafe Lebon

One of the premier street cafes in Nicosia. You can try from the delicious pastries, cakes, sandwiches, and variety of tea and coffees.
