Elihu
Lauterpacht |
Mr. E. Lauterpacht, C.B.E., Q.C., is a British international lawyer
of great academic and professional experience. He is at present
Director of the Research Centre for International Law of the University
of Cambridge, having taught international law at that University
almost continuously since 1953.
His extensive litigation experiences include many appearances
in the International Court of Justice and other international
tribunals, as well as national courts, on behalf of a wide range
of States and multinational corporations. For three years (1975-77)
he was the Legal Adviser of the Australian Department of Foreign
Affairs and Deputy Leader of the Australian Delegation to the
UN General Assembly and the UN Law of the Sea Conference.
He has been President of the East African Common Market Tribunal
and is now a Vice-President of the World Bank Administrative Tribunal
and a member of the Arbitration Panel of the International Centre
for the Settlement of Investment Disputes. He is a Bencher of
Gary's Inn and a member of the Institut de Droit International.

Monroe
Leigh |
Mr. M. Leigh is an American international lawyer engaged in general
practice of law, with special emphasis on international disputes.
Served as U.S. Member to North Atlantic Council Committee on Infrastructure.
For seven years (1953-1959) he was Assistant General Council for
International Affairs, for the Office of Secretary of Defence,
Washington, D.C. He has private law practice with Steptoe and
Johnson, Washington, D.C. specialising in international cases.
Mr. M. Leigh was appointed as Legal Adviser to the Department
of State in January 1975. Being a lecturer on Legal Problems of
International Trade at the University of Virginia Law School,
he was also a member to the Permanent Court of Arbitration, at
the Hague, between 1975-1980. During same period he served as
a member to the Public Advisory Committee on Law of the Sea, U.S.
Department of State. He is at present a member of private legal
firm, Steptoe and Johnson, Washington, D.C. and a member of the
Legal Adviser's Public Advisory Committee on International Law,
U.S. Department of State.

Necati
Münir Ertekün |
Dr. h.c. Mehmet Necati Münir Ertekün, Coordinating Ambassador
is Special Adviser on Political Affairs to His Excellency President Denktash, the President of the
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). He is a member of the Turkish Cypriot negotiating team
at the inter-communal talks on Cyprus.
Dr. Ertekün was previously a Crown Counsel in Tanganyika
(now Tanzania) (from 1948 to 1953); Solicitor-General of the Colony
of Cyprus (from 1953 to 1960); appointed the Turkish Judge of
the Supreme Constitutional Court of the Republic of Cyprus (1960):
President of the Supreme Court of the Turkish Cypriot Administration
(1967-75); President of the Supreme Court of the Turkish Federated
State of Cyprus (1975-78). On his retirement from the Bench, he
was Constitutional and Legal Adviser to President Denktash from
1979 to 1983. Dr. Ertekün was a member of the Constituent
Assembly and the first Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence
of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from 1983 until 1985
when the Constituent Assembly was replaced by the newly elected
Parliament.
Mehmet Necati Münir Ertekün was born in 1923 and educated
at Brentwood School, Essex and at the University of Cambridge.
He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn
in 1946. He practiced law in England and Cyprus from 1947 to 1948.
He was awarded the O.B.E. in January 1957 and made a Queen's Counsel
(QC) for Cyprus in February 1957.
