Born in
Nicosia, Cyprus in 1966, Ruzen Atakan is one of the most promising of the new generation of artists on
the island.
In 1988 she received her B.A. degree in Fine Arts from
Söbütay Özers
Studio, Gazi
University, Ankara. Ruzen has had 4 solo exhibitions and she
successfully took part in many group exhibitions, both in Cyprus
and overseas. Since 1989 she is teaching painting in secondary and
high schools.
From 1996 to date she is a teacher of painting in the State Fine
Arts High School, Painting Department. Ruzen participated in the
following exhibitions:

1977 State Art and Sculpture Prize, Nicosia.
1999 Group Exhibition at Gotland University College, Gotland,

1999 Group Exhibition at Kunstmesse, Salzburg,
2001 Group Exhibition at IMKB, Istanbul.
2003 Bi-communal Exhibition at Hilton Hotel, Nicosia.

Ruzen is the daughter of the famous Cypriot painter Ali
Atakan.
