In 1990, there were 1,030 hospital beds available, 827 in state hospitals and a further 203 in the private sector, representing six hospital beds per 1,000.In 2003, crude birth rate in North Cyprus was 15.0 per 1,000 people and the death rate was 8.0 per 1,000 people.

The average life expectancy for men in 2003, the last year for which the figures are available, was 74 and for women 76.

In 2003, there were 1,236 hospital beds available, 940 in state hospitals and a further 296 in the private sector, representing 57 hospital beds per 1,000 persons. 

There were 345 doctors, 129 public, and 225 private, giving a ratio of 501 persons per doctor. There is a nationalised healthcare service offering primary medical treatment.
