The pianist, who was born in Schwenningen (Germany) in 1971 to Cypriot parents, showed great musical talent
at a very young age, and was praised as a child prodigy by many professional musicians. She learned how to play piano from her father conductor Yilmaz
Taner. Later she joined at Ankara State Conservatory at the age of 11, where
she studied piano under Professors Mithat Fenmen and Tulga Cetiz.
At the age of 12 she went to London's prestigious Guildhall School of Music
and Drama, under the state scholarship from TRNC government, and continued
her studies working with Professor Joan
Havill. During her academic life,
Taner participated in many concerts, and won numerous musical prizes. She graduated from Guildhall School of Music with AGSM in 1992, from
Royal College of Music with ARCM honours degrees in 1993, and in 1994 finished her post-
graduate studies at Guildhall in Advanced Solo Studies in Piano with a rarely given prize of Premier Prix.
Taner is a regular concert
soloist with the leading orchestras around the world. Her latest
tour of concerts included concerts in Belgium, Belarus, Hungary, France, Germany, England, Poland,
Italy, Kyrgztan, Netherlands, Romania, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, United States, Uzbekistan, Iran , Turkey and
her native Cyprus. |
