Born in Larnaca, Cyprus in 1909. A self-taught painter, the artist did not have a formal education, and taught himself
to read and write. The theme of his earlier paintings were the sea and life at port, reflecting the environment he was working
then at the docks.
In 1964 he joined the Fine Arts Association and participated in many of the
group's nature-visit paintings. His later paintings focused on observations
of the nature and paintings of portraits.
The artist died in 1981. Maras Emek Cultural Asssociation of Famagusta organised
a tribute exhibition of his paintings in memory of the artist after his death.
Öztürk's paintings are mostly in private collections.
