Born in 1949 in the village of Malya, Cyprus, Çizenel studied
at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts from where he graduated
in 1974. He participated in many exhibitions since then together
with five other local artists under the title of "Five Young
Cypriot Painters". During his years at the Academy, he worked
at the Devrim Erbil Atelier, and then after his graduation he
continued his work in Vienna, Austria.
He won many artistic prizes, and was one of the Cypriot painters
to participate in the First Europe-Asia biennale. Currently,
he teaches Painting and History of Art in North Cyprus.
