|
Year 1878...An
island, Cyprus... rented to the British by the Ottomans... an island left
to its fate once more.. with yet another civilisation ready to
rule it and its peoples...
Contemporary
Folk Dance Group of North Cyprus performed its world premiere of
new production of "Epic Story of Hasan
Bullis" on 29
March 2001 at Grand Hall of Nicosia's Near East
University.

A scene
from the performance |
Making
themselves a name throughout generations in all of Cyprus, Hasan
Bullis' story was performed in a vivid and visually
eloquent moving chareography.
The richness
and the detail of the costumes worn by the dancers was notable.
Semra Yeltekin, in her role as the matriarch of the Hasan Bulli
household had a remarkably moving performance as a mother losing
her three sons.
