Contemporary Dance Group performing 'The Legend of the Hasan Bullis'

Year 1878...An island, Cyprus... rented to the British by the Ottomans... an island left to its fate once more.. with yet another civilisation ready to rule it and its peoples...

Contemporary Folk Dance Group of North Cyprus performed its world premiere of new production of "Epic Story of Hasan Bullis" on 29 March 2001 at Grand Hall of Nicosia's Near East University.

Making themselves a name throughout generations in all of Cyprus, Hasan Bullis' story was performed in a vivid and visually eloquent moving chareography. 

The richness and the detail of the costumes worn by the dancers was notable. Semra Yeltekin, in her role as the matriarch of the Hasan Bulli household had a remarkably moving performance as a mother losing her three sons.

46 dancers and 12 musicians in total gave the audience a performance of a lifetime, showing the dramatic story of the Hasan Bulli brothers which became a legend over time.
