SPORTS ACTIVITIES IN LEFKE
	LEFKE TURKISH SPORT CLUB
	Lefke Turkish Sport Club was established in 1943. Its aim was to gather the young generation together and convince them to get involved with the sports activities and keep themselves in shape. The new building of sports club started in 1972 and was finished in 1975. Currently Lefke football club is in the first league. In the 1996-1997 season Lefke football club has finished sixth in the league. There is also a tennis club. Some social occasions take place in the sports club such as wedding, engagement and some other ceremonies. Lefke sport club is located on top of a hill which has both, view of sea and the mountains.
	16 AGUSTOS KURTULUS FOOTBALL GROUND
	This ground was built by CMC (Cyprus Mining Corporation -see later), with the idea of helping Lefke Sports Club. CMC started building this ground in 1962 and it was completed in 1967. It has a capacity to have 4000-5000 people. The name of 16 Agustos Kurtulus football ground was given to the ground in 1974 marking the day when Turkish Peace operation liberated the town. Many occasions' take place in the ground. Such as football and competitions in different areas of sports.
	TENNIS GROUNDS
	Tennis grounds have been built by CMC in the area where the mining houses are located. These grounds use to be open for the engineers and the workers who worked in CMC. This tennis grounds has first been seen in 1938. The tennis grounds were made of cement and prepared for the night games under the special light. When CMC was operating it was prohibited for the local people to enter the tennis yards. Whereas now it is completely open for the public to be used.
